The Game: Washington Capitals @ Boston Bruins
The Reason: During the 2011 NHL playoffs there was a total of seven Game Sevens played. Four of those finished with a total of four goals or less, while one finished with five goals, and two finished above the five-goal total. The Bruins played in three of those Game 7s from last season’s playoffs and two of those contests finished under the five-goal total. Game Sevens tend to be much tighter than any other game in a seven-game series, and we expect that to be the case tonight, as Tim Thomas and Braden Holtby stand tall and ensure that this game goes under the 5-goal total.
The Game: Washington Nationals @ San Diego Padres
The Reason: While Nats’ starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman has yet to record a win this season, he has still been quite remarkable on the mound, as he has a 1.29 ERA in three starts. He has allowed only one earned run in each of his three starts this season, with his last two starts resulting in wins for Washington. As for Padres’ starter Joe Wieland, he is 0-2 with a 5.73 ERA in two starts this season. The Nats are 6-1 in their last seven games, and they have won four straight against the Padres. Look for them to make it five straight tonight.
2012 Record: (72-73-8), This Week: (1-2-1), Last Week: (5-5)
